Microsoft on Wednesday made waves in the tech industry when it announced that it is giving away for free some software it designed for its own internal use calledSoftware for Open Networking in the Cloud (SONiC).
And this news can’t be making Cisco happy.
SONiC is software used to run an up-and-coming type of computer network switch that is rising in popularity, known as software-defined networking (SDN), that threatens to overturn Cisco’s stranglehold on the network switch industry.
