Microsoft Thinks Your Business Can Benefit From AI, So It’s Building It Into Your Everyday Software

Microsoft 365, the subscription-based version of Microsoft’s familiar Office app package that includes programs like Word and PowerPoint, is getting a very 21st-century power boost, Microsoft announced. It’s bolting its own AI chatbot system Copilot into the subscriber package for many customers.

Copilot is Microsoft’s gambit to win a slice of the hottest game in tech at the moment: artificially intelligent chatbots.

New AI tools are released almost daily, but Microsoft has a leg up thanks to its close partnership with OpenAI–the organization behind the best-known chatbot system, ChatGPT. Copilot in Microsoft 365 had previously only been available for businesses buying 300 or more subscriptions. Now Microsoft has dropped this requirement to one or more users, to expand Copilot’s appeal to smaller enterprises, and it’s charging what seems like an affordable $30 per month per person.
