Apple’s iPhone Sales Just Fell for the First Time—It Won’t Be the Last

IT WAS BOUND to happen at some point.

For the first time since Apple launched its flagship smartphone in 2007, the company sold fewer iPhones than it did in the same quarter the previous year. Sales dropped 16 percent in the first quarter of the year—and an even more dramatic 32 percent from the last quarter of 2015. The world’s most valuable company still moved 51 million smartphones, more than anyone not named Samsung can boast.
